6-week courses & Workshops

Beginners Burlesque Dance

Consisting of six 1-hour dance classes over six weeks, this course is an introduction to burlesque dance,  the hottest trend in town, bringing together a sizzling dance style with elaborate vintage costumes, cool retro tunes and a lot of sassy fun!, Learn how to be a total glamour queen, how to walk and dance  in sky-high heels and how to exude confidence and sex appeal! And of course, you'll learn all the fundamentals of burlesque dance! You'll shimmy, shake, undulate, bump, grind, wiggle, jiggle, twirl and swirl your way through the classic burlesque moves and the use of the tools of tease, such as boas, canes, gloves and chairs.  Not only will you walk away with a few new moves for the boudoir, but this is also a great workout! You will even get the chance to perform a full group choreography at a Sugar Blue Burlesque live show.

Solo Burlesque Performer Course Level 1

Do you love burlesque and want to perform a solo act at a Sugar Blue Show? This is the course for you!
Our short course will reveal your inner burlesque starlet! This course is designed to define your character,  find your strengths, and help you create a solo burlesque performance ready for a sugar blue show!
Sapphire Demure will supply you with a cd of burlesque classic tunes as well as guiding you through the important elements of this performance art, such as expression, characterisation, prop usage, listening and using your music effectively, vintage styling and costuming, the art of tease and of course how to perform burlesque on a stage!

Solo Burlesque Performer Course 2

If you have already performed in one of our graduation shows and become a bona fide burlesque addict (like us!) we’d love to give you the opportunity to pursue your new found passion and take it to the next level! This Advanced Burlesque Performer Course runs for six weeks, with longer class sessions than the other courses (one and a half hours each class) and covers advanced elements of burlesque dance, prop-work, costuming, performance and stagecraft. Over the six weeks you'll try your hand at chair dancing, feather fan dancing, advanced striptease, audience interaction, duo/group performances, and costume accessory making. You'll learn a group dance choreography with all the girls, plus there's even a class in pastie making and tassel twirling!

Cabaret Chair Dancing Workshop

Sapphire Demure will be guiding you through poses and moves around the chair as well as teaching you a full group cabaret chair dancing routine.

Fan Dancing Workshop

If you have never picked up a pair of ostrich feather fans before or perhaps you have done previous workshops or have your own feather fans, this workshop is for you. Sapphire Demure will teach you some techniques and style involved in classic fan dancing such as classic poses with the fans, dancing and movement, the art of tease with the fans and popular flourishes, as well as a group routine to perform at a Sugar Blue show.
